What we’ve been doing…
A Police Visit
Chris and Fran from West Yorkshire Police came to visit Year 6 to deliver a workshop about Bonfire Night safety and anti-social behaviour. The children enjoyed the session and asked relevant questions and they are now more aware of what to do and not what to do.
the titanic detective agency
In year 6 we have linked our homework project to our class book 'The Titanic Detective Agency,' the children were asked to research the Titanic and present their findings. Matthew decided to bake a cake and shared it with his class mates and teachers. Everyone enjoyed the treat it was delicious and we think Matthew is a master baker in the making.
science
As part of our science this half term Year 6 have been looking at the negative impact of an unhealthy lifestyle. The children and staff have been collecting their empty food packaging and using this to record the nutrient content of food and drink. The children have recorded these and then decided if they were healthy or unhealthy, some items were surprisingly unhealthy when they actually looked at them. Lots of eun was had rummaging through the packages.
PSHE
In our Scarf lesson this week we have been looking at feelings and how we can tell how somebody might be feeling without speaking. Year 6 have showed emotions in a freeze frame activity. The children enjoyed pulling different faces to show this.
Maths
Today, Jacob has taken ownership of his Maths learning and has become the teacher for his group. The children had to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000. Jacob did a fantastic job! We think there is a future teacher in the making.
